That said, I came across a few people talking about a comic book series called Doktor Sleepless on the twitter (anyone twitting around here?). I remember reading the Transmetropolitan series by the same author (Warren Ellis) and liking its wacky description of the post singularity future etc.

Anyone around here read it? Would you recommend it to other people?



P.S. Picked up Neal Stephensons new book Anathem recently. Nice read.

Hmm, Ill have to look for that. Anything by Warren Ellis gets my approval. I'm actually collecting the Transmetropolitian trade paperbacks now.

BTW, how was Anathem? I haven't picked it up yet.

A bit in confusing in the beginning, with Neal Stephenson making up a whole new world in front of you (with new vocabulary and etc). Things got clear/interesting about 50 or so pages in, though. Now I can not stop reading the book.

Just started a download of Doctor Sleepless.

For some reason I used to think that Transmetropolitan was written by Grant Morrison, maybe because he reminds me of Spider Jerusalem.

A while ago when I started thinking about the biopunk concept I was searching the net for what the word punk means to people now. While doing this I came across a talk by Grant Morrison at a DisInfo convention. My initial thought was that the guy was mad and that his story was a crazy mans ramblings. While watching it struck me that he is telling a comic book script live. And I think every word and gesture is scripted for effect. It suddenly became a very impressive talk for me. And I do like the punk attitude shared by the British graphic novelists.
