I Don't know if this video has been posted on this forum earlier but I decided to put it here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKZ-GjSaqgoIt's a Ted talks speech by Craig Venter about synthetic biology.
It was new to me. A good talk. Venter continues to amaze me, he is one of a kind. The Burt Rutan of biology.
Synthetic biology needs an evangelist like him. Most of his talks are about explaining the implications of the technology. How the world is becoming a different place because of it and what that future might look like. And he is not just anyone, he is Mr Human Genome, his words carry weight.
I sometime have a feeling Venter to most people is so far ahead of his time they have no idea how to relate to him.
One just has to love his one liners too... like the one in the youtube comments:
Moderator: Can you be accused of playing God?
Venter: Oh, we're not playing!
... you have to love the guy ; )
