 Terminology - garage biotechI was just listening to a talk by Craig Venter. In the Q&A portion he was asked about homebrew biotechnology. The words used were biohacking and 'Garage biotech'. I've seen other words used for the concept too:
This article uses the terms 'bioDIY, home biology, biotech DIY, garage biology'. I rather like the terms biohacking and garage biotech. That would make biopunk 'biohacker culture'. The Venter talk is called 'Joining 3.5 Billion years of Microbial Invention', it's from feb 25, 2008 and can be found here. It's 1h50min. There are some interesting quotes in it like Quote: I had a fun discussion with Gordon Moore, cause I argued that DNA-sequencing, engineering(?) and genetical biology was changing faster than Moores law.
