So... I just stumbled on this. It's a PBS News Hour report on synthetic biology and iGEM. The thing that caught my attention was to see what Jason Bobe and MacKenzie Cowell(of DIYbio) look like. They are interviewed 5.30 into the clip. Uploaded by kanz. Small world.

I watched this during the weekend. There is something very beautiful about the hacker culture.

In principle anything that's not purely consumption involves hacking. The (computer)hackers created a culture around the concept.
